Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz has officially stepped down as head coach of Ghana following the Black Stars' elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, bringing his brief spell with the national team to an end after just three months in charge.

Queiroz announced his departure on Sunday after Ghana's 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the Round of 32, which ended the team's World Cup campaign.

In a message shared on his official Instagram account, the 73-year-old reflected on his time with the Black Stars, expressing pride in what the team achieved while emphasizing that his ambition has always been to aim higher.

"I leave this journey proud of what we accomplished, but also with the feeling that there is always more to achieve," Queiroz wrote. "Reaching one level should never be the end of the road, but the beginning of new challenges."

Queiroz was appointed Ghana head coach in April, replacing Otto Addo, who left the role 72 days before the start of the World Cup.

Under his guidance, Ghana enjoyed a respectable group-stage campaign, defeating Panama, drawing with England, and losing to Croatia before advancing to the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams.

Before the World Cup, Queiroz had overseen just one international friendly with Ghana. His tenure concluded following the Round of 32 exit, marking the end of his short-lived stint with the Black Stars.
