Data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics showed an increase in the value of Egyptian exports to the European Union during 2021 to record $14.6 billion, compared to $7.8 billion in 2020, an increase of $6.8 billion, and an increase of 85.9%.
Italy tops list of EU countries importing from Egypt
Italy topped the list of the top ten EU countries importing from Egypt during 2021, with Egypt's exports reaching $2.8 billion.
Malta came in the second spot with $2 billion, and Spain came in the third spot with $1.9 billion, and Greece came in fourth with $1.6 billion in imports.
Moreover, the United Kingdom imports from Egypt recorded $1.2 billion, France recorded $1.1 billion, and Germany's imports was reported at $848.2 million.
Egyptian Exports to the Netherlands recorded $689.1 million, while Belgium reported $443.9 million, and finally Slovakia $417.7 million.
Top Ten Egyptian Exports to EU
Fuel, petroleum products and extractive industries products topped the list of the top ten commodity groups exported by Egypt to the European Union during 2021, as its exports amounted to $5.8 billion.
This was followed by chemical and plastic products at $2.4 billion, metal products at $1.8 billion, then machinery, electrical machinery and equipment Transport $1.6 billion.
Meat and vegetable products, beverages and tobacco stood at $1.4 billion, then yarns, textile fibers, textile products and clothing at $906.9 million.
Marble, stone, porcelain and glass manufactures stood at $369.1 million, rubber, leather and wood at $183.3 million, other items at $124.3 million, and finally scientific equipment at $43.7 million.
