Data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed an increase in the value of trade between Egypt and China to reach $16.2 billion during the year 2022, compared to $15.9 billion during the year 2021, an increase of 2.2%.
The value of Egyptian exports to China increased, recording $1.8 billion in 2022, compared to $1.5 billion in 2021, an increase of 25.1%.
The most important commodity groups that Egypt exported to China during 2022 are fuel, mineral oils, and their distillation products worth $1.4 billion, and cotton worth $117.3 million.
Egypt exported to China fruits worth $77.7 million during 2022, prepared animal food worth $65.8 million, and textile fibers worth $33.7 million.
The value of Egyptian imports from China witnessed a slight decline to $14.4 billion during 2022, compared to $14.42 billion during 2021, a decrease of 0.2%.
The most important commodity groups that Egypt imported from China during 2022 included machinery and electrical appliances worth $2.9 billion, and boilers, machines, appliances and mechanical tools worth $2.1 billion.
Egypt imported synthetic or synthetic hairs worth $1.1 billion from China, plastics and their products worth $1 billion, and synthetic or synthetic fibers worth $502.1 million.
The value of Chinese investments in Egypt grew by $563.4 million during the fiscal year 2021/22, compared to $485.2 million during the FY2020/21, an increase of 16.1%.
The value of remittances from Egyptians working in China increased by $13.2 million during the FY2021/22, compared to $12.8 million during the FY2020/21, an increase of 3.1%.
The value of remittances from Chinese working in Egypt decreased by $4.1 million during the fiscal year 2021/22, compared to $5.4 million during the fiscal year 2020/21, a decrease of 25.2%.
