Canada plans to provide weapons to Ukraine worth $1.16 billion over the next five years, according to the budget proposal released by the Canadian Ministry of Finance on Tuesday.
The budget proposal allocates $1.6 billion Canadian ($1.16 billion USD) to the Ministry of Defense starting from the fiscal year 2024-2025, to provide "lethal and non-lethal military aid" to Ukraine.
Canadian authorities also plan to provide a loan of $2.4 billion Canadian ($1.74 billion USD) to Ukraine through the International Monetary Fund in 2024.
It was noted in the budget proposal that $2 billion Canadian from this loan was transferred to Ukraine's account on March 20 last year.
It is worth mentioning that Ukraine has received military aid from Canada worth about $4 billion Canadian ($2.91 billion USD) since the start of the Russian military operation in February 2022.
