Canada were held to a 1–1 draw by Ireland in a friendly match played early this morning in Montreal as both teams continue their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which begins next Thursday across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
Canada national football team took the lead in the 23rd minute through an own goal by Irish defender Jake O’Brien, before Ireland equalized in the 60th minute through Chiedozie Ogbene.
Canada are set to compete in Group B of the tournament alongside Bosnia and Herzegovina, Qatar, and Switzerland.
