On Friday, Canada announced continuing to evacuate its citizens from Israel, highlighting that a Canadian military aircraft is doing twice-daily evacuation flights out of Tel Aviv to make sure that the country is working to get Canadians safely.

Global Affairs Canada Assistant Deputy Minister Julie Sunday told reporters: “It’s an incredibly difficult situation there right now."

Sunday: “We’re looking at about 150 individuals total in Gaza who’ve identified themselves as requiring assistance. The majority of these people are Canadians, but there are mixed families — and that will create additional requirements in terms of ensuring everybody has documentation and is able to transit.”

The number of evacuated Canadians from Israel and Palestine increased to 236. The Canadians were transported to Athens.

Two more flights took place on Friday, carrying 260 people out of the country.

More flights are planned for Saturday.
