Canada has announced military aid worth over $55 million to Ukraine as part of a German-led initiative to swiftly deliver air defense systems.
Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair revealed the allocation of 76 million Canadian dollars (equivalent to 55.7 million US dollars) to support Ukraine's defense against Russian attacks.
The aid aims to bolster Ukraine's ability to fend off Russian airstrikes, which have caused significant casualties and widespread destruction of infrastructure.
Canada has been a steadfast supporter of Ukraine, having allocated over 14 billion Canadian dollars in general support, including 4 billion Canadian dollars in military assistance since the onset of the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
The German-led initiative, titled "Required Air Defense," seeks to encourage partners and allies to provide Ukraine with additional air defense capabilities.
