Cairo Governorate has announced the installation of five giant screens across the Egyptian capital to allow residents to watch World Cup matches free of charge in a festive public atmosphere.
The initiative aims to provide football fans with accessible viewing locations throughout the tournament while promoting community engagement and a shared sporting experience.
Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber is scheduled to attend the tournament’s opening ceremony with residents of Al-Asmarat district at 8 p.m. on Thursday. The event will be broadcast on a giant screen installed at the sports grounds in front of the district’s administrative headquarters.
The governorate said the preparations are part of broader efforts to create a safe and organized environment for supporters throughout the World Cup, offering large public spaces where families and football enthusiasts can gather to watch matches together.
Saber said Cairo has completed arrangements at five locations strategically distributed across the city to accommodate spectators during the tournament.
The giant screens have been installed at the sports fields in Al-Asmarat, Rod El-Farag Youth Center, Al-Prince Grounds in Al-Sahel district, Souq El-Ashr in East Nasr City, and Al-Basateen Youth Center.
