Cairo Univ. Jumps 14 Ranks in 2019 Best Global Universities Rankings

Cairo University has jumped 14 ranks to occupy a 434-448-category place in the 2019 Best Global Universities Rankings” the American media company US News revealed.

The university advanced 81 ranks in 2015, maintaining its top rank among Egyptian universities.

The presence of Cairo University in the first rank in Egypt always proves that the fruits of reforms can be reaped very quickly.

President of Cairo University Mohamed Osman al-Khosht said that university has advanced in nine international rankings during the past two years.

He pointed out that there are a number of important factors that led to such success, including, turning the university into a third-generation one, inking agreements and alliances with major universities ranked among the best 100 universities worldwide, increasing incentives and rewards for international publishing and enhancing the development and establishment of new laboratories.

He also expressed his hopes to raise the university’s ranking by providing the maximum amount of information about Cairo University’s activity on its website.

Al-Khosht added that Cairo University has progressed significantly in the international rankings of universities during the year 2018, topping the Egyptian universities on the list.

The 2019 rankings evaluated 1,250 universities across the world, including 14 Egyptian universities. It used 13 ranking factors and focused on institutions’ research performance.

The Egyptian universities that made the list included the American University in Cairo, Banha University, Beni Suef University, Kafr al-Sheikh University, Mansoura University, and Suez Canal University, which all came between 601 and 800.

The government has listed improving the country’s educational system and infrastructure among the top of its priorities for the coming years in a bid to develop the academic level of the youth, who make up a large portion of the population and increase their knowledge and skills for future employment opportunities.
