Cairo University ranked first among Egyptian universities on the Spanish Webometrics Ranking of World Universities in July 2019.

The university also advanced 176 universities worldwide within only six months, achieving an increase ratio of 20 percent compared to January 2019 ranking.

The presence of Cairo University in the first rank always proves that the fruits of reforms can be reaped very quickly.

The university administration has previously announced that it will provide support required for moving the university forward in the global ranking.

Webometrics is a Spanish index that classifies universities based on technical and scientific studies. The ranking is carried out every six months in January and July and it evaluates the best universities in the world in publishing academic studies on the internet.

It is worth mentioning that Webometrics ranking includes about 30 thousand universities worldwide. Only 5011 of them appeared in the ranking of scientific citations.

President of Cairo University Mohamed Othman al-Khosht said that he hopes to raise the university’s ranking by providing the maximum amount of information about Cairo University’s activity on its website.

Al-Khosht added that Cairo University has progressed significantly in the international rankings of universities during the year 2018, topping the Egyptian universities on the list.

He added that only 11 Egyptian universities were included in the 2019 ranking list, including Cairo University in the first rank, followed by Mansoura University, then Ain Shams University.

Meanwhile, Alexandria University ranked fourth, followed by Tanta University and Assiut University.
