Continuing its mission to revive classics of world art in various forms of high culture, the Egyptian Opera, under the leadership of Khaled Daaghr, is presenting a short comic operetta by the renowned Austrian composer Mozart, alongside a selection of songs from his most famous operas.

This comes after a hiatus of over 12 years since its last performance.

The comic operetta, known as "Impresario" in English, was completed by Mozart in 1768 and features libretto by Gottlieb Stephanie the Younger.

It was first performed in the Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna in 1787.

The story unfolds in a single act and revolves around the troubles and amusing situations faced by an impresario (artistic agent) as he tries to manage the egos and demands of two singing divas for a single artistic project.

The lead roles will be portrayed by Dalia Farouk and Angie Mohsen, alternating in the role of the charming Madame Hartmillet. Veronika Philip and Amira Reda will alternate in the role of the Silver Bell, while Mina Rafael and Ibrahim Nagy will alternate as the impresario, and Tamer Tawfik and Osama Jamal will alternate as Mr. Buff.

The first act will feature excerpts from Mozart's famous operas, including "Don Giovanni," "Cosi fan tutte," "The Magic Flute," "The Abduction from the Seraglio," "Bastien and Bastienne," and more.

It's worth mentioning that the Cairo Opera Orchestra, officially established in 1964, boasts an impressive repertoire of over 32 renowned opera works.

Its members have participated in grand productions on some of the world's biggest stages, and they have successfully cultivated a dedicated audience interested in operatic singing as one of the highest forms of art.
