Cairo International Airport customs authorities, under the leadership of Dr. Magdy Mosi, Head of the Central Administration, and specifically the General Administration of Passenger Customs at Terminal 3, have issued a series of significant and historic seizure reports over the past days.

One of the most notable cases was recorded by the Third Administration, headed by Raafat Wahib and his deputy Amira Tolba, which filed seizure reports No. 122 and 123 of 2025 against two Asian female passengers. The first was found carrying 40 emerald gemstones and a gemstone detector, while the second possessed 37 emerald gemstones. Both were intercepted during personal searches as they arrived on an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Addis Ababa. The inspection team included Mahmoud Mohamed Fathi, Head of the Customs Committee, along with officers Mostafa Baher Abdel Baki, Dina Hassan Abdel Hamid, and Mariam Adel Sadeq, supported by the X-ray unit led by Ahmed Mohamed El-Behairy, Ahmed Sayed Abdel Aziz, and Mohamed Abdel Moneim Saleh, under the supervision of Mohamed Youssef, Director of Movement.

Earlier this year, the same administration filed what is considered one of the most prominent seizures of 2025 (Report No. 113) against an Asian passenger found with 2,733 forged documents, stickers, and high-security watermarked certificates resembling high school diplomas from two Arab countries, intended for fraud.

Meanwhile, the Fourth Administration, led by Dr. Hussein Hikal and his deputy Ahmed Fouad Hamed, filed seizure report No. 119 of 2025 against an Egyptian passenger arriving from Paris. He was caught with a cocktail of narcotics—including hashish, marijuana, cocaine, and hallucinogenic stamps—hidden in 26 packages. Another report, No. 120 of 2025, was filed against another Egyptian passenger arriving from New York, found in possession of 128 ancient coins: 39 from the Roman and Byzantine periods, 37 from King Farouk’s era, 15 from the Ottoman period, 14 from Sultan Hussein Kamel’s era, 11 from King Fouad’s era, and 40 from other historical periods. The case involved the Airport Antiquities Unit, led by archaeologist Girgis Mounir and his team of experts.

The Second Administration, headed by Sayed Mamdouh and his deputy Ahmed Abu Bakr, filed seizure report No. 115 against an Asian passenger attempting to smuggle 268 headphones and sunglasses, along with 40 broadcasting devices.

The Third Administration, under Abdel Azim Hamada and deputy Tamer Qassem, also filed multiple reports, including No. 116 of 2025 against an Egyptian passenger caught with 31 packs of assorted narcotics, and No. 121 of 2025 against an Asian passenger attempting to smuggle 245 medical supplies.

In the seasonal terminal, the First Administration, led by Jihad Abdallah El-Wakeel and deputy Medhat Abdel Sabour, seized 152 pairs of sunglasses from a foreign passenger of Egyptian origin (Report No. 117).

All these operations were conducted in coordination with the Central Administration of Customs Technology Compliance, headed by Dr. Saad Salem, supported by Ahmed Abdel Raouf and Mohamed Afifi of the X-ray inspection unit. The actions come under the continuous supervision of Mr. Ahmed Omowy, Head of the Egyptian Customs Authority, with full support from Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk.
