The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has included Egyptian duo Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush on its list of stars poised to steal the spotlight at the 2026 World Cup, emphasizing that the Egyptian national team possesses two of the most prominent names capable of making a difference in the tournament.
CAF praised Mohamed Salah's career, which has transformed him into one of the most prominent figures in African and global football thanks to his significant achievements with European clubs. However, it also pointed out that the Egyptian national team captain is still chasing an exceptional achievement with the Pharaohs on the international stage.
CAF continued, "Mohamed Salah has cemented his name as one of the best players Africa has ever produced. Although he has achieved every possible title at the club level with his former club, Liverpool, he has not yet achieved the same feat with the Egyptian national team. Egypt has won the Africa Cup of Nations seven times, but this has not happened during Mohamed Salah's time with the national team. His best achievement was reaching the final in the 2017 and 2021 editions."
