CAF President: We Want to Give Good Image of Cameroon, Africa to the World

The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Patrice Motsepe gave a first comment on the possibility of postponing the 2022 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The tournament is set to take place in Cameroon will be held in January 9 and end in February 6, while there are several reports spread out during the recent days claim that the tournament could be delayed or cancelled.

After his arrival to Cameroon, Motsepe talked about the future of the tournament, saying, "We have a commitment to the people of Cameroon and Africa but we're positive."

"We'll give you feedback tomorrow but we want to give a good image of Cameroon and Africa to the world," he noted during statements to CRTV.

According to the recent African reports, there is a real intention from the FIFA, headed by Gianni Infantino, about postponing the tournament to take place in the summer as the European club refuse to send their players to the international team because of fears from the spread of coronavirus pandemic and Omicron variant.
