On Thursday, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr Patrice Motsepe announced the launching of the African Club Association (ACA).
Young Africans' President Hersi Said was elected as the first ACA President. While Kaizer Chief’s Jessica Motaung and Paul Bassey from Akwa United were elected as deputies.
The elections took place in Cairo.
"The African Club Association inaugural meeting was chaired by CAF President of CAF Dr Patrice Motsepe who saw a need for African Football Clubs to have a platform and a structure where they can have a voice in African football," according to a statement by the CAF.
The full board of the African Club Association consists of Khaled Abdelkader (Al Ahly, Egypt), Taha Diay (Raja, Morocco), Rodney Edmond Michael (Mighty Blackpool FC, Sierra Leone), Famakan Dembele (AS Real Bamako, Mali), Ayibatin Wilfrido (AS Loto FC, Benin), Paul Bassey (Akwa United, Nigeria), Hersi A. Said (Young Africans, Tanzania), Hassan Ali Eissa (Al Hilal, Sudan), Jessica Motaung (Kaizer Chiefs, South Africa), Salamo Newboy Hei (African Stars, Namibia), Ravel Mondjo Mbouloungou (CS de Bendje, Gabon), Guy Kapya Kilongozi (AS Maniema Union, DR Congo).
