Cabinet`s EDF Prepares for New Academic Year

Ahmed Al-Hayawi, Security-General of the cabinet`s Education Development Fund (EDF) held a meeting on Saturday to discuss final preparations for the new academic year.

The meeting was held with EDF`s council of Development Projects. It was attended by EDF's consultants, project managers, and the financial and administrative directors.

During its meeting, the Board discussed the final preparations for the start of the study in the technological parks of EDF for the academic year 2019/2020.

The technological parks` directors reviewed aspects of preparations for the educational process`s regularity, laboratory equipment, workshops and the special needs of each park.

Al-Hayawi said: “the number of new students who will join the Al-Amiriyah technology complex in the new academic year is about 182 students, specializing in mechanics, electrical technology and electronics.”

In a press release issued by EDF today, he announced that Abu Ghaleb Technology Education Complex  this year introduced the specialty of ready-made clothes, which includes 84 students. The total number of students in the second year is 262.

“This year, Assiut Technological Complex was joined by 96 new students in its three specializations, with 32 students for each specialization. The total number of the park`s students is 224 for the secondary technical school, in the fields of electricity, mechanics and information technology,” Al-Hayawi.

In the same context, EDF`s Secretary-General explained that the number of students enrolled in the Integrated Technology Education Parks in Fayoum during this academic year is 1000 students. 550 students in the technical secondary school of the three-year system (the first stage), and 150 students in the secondary professional school of the three-year system, 175 students at the College of Intermediate Technology and 125 students at the College of Advanced Technology.

The meeting reviewed the preparations of Abu Ghalib Technology Park project to hold an induction day in addition to signing an international cooperation agreement with the Italian side.

The meeting also discussed proposals to develop engineering management within the Education Development Fund to meet the requirements of existing projects and work to overcome obstacles to previous projects.

They aldo reviewed the cooperation between EDF and the Egyptian Zakat & Charity House in the implementation of joint projects related to the nursing sectors and the rehabilitation of children who dropped out of education.

The managers of the technological parks pointed out to the need to establish a community service center to take advantage of the possibilities available for each park such as renting a fuel station and a football stadium at Al-Amiriyah park in order to maximize the resources of these parks and use them to finance their various projects.

The Board approved the formation of a committee to activate the recommendations of the World Bank on the development of the Education Development Fund.

They also approved the proposal on the use of land allocated to the Education Development Fund in both the cities of October and Badr to establish new projects for the Fund.
