Cabinet, on Wednesday, refuted rumors that claim suspending study amid fears of the new Omicron variant.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the Cabinet affirmed that they contacted both education and higher education ministries and that false news was completely dismissed.

"The two ministries asserted that study will not be postponed due to the Omicron variant, and everything will go as planned," according to the statement.

Moreover, they pointed out that the educational process in schools, universities, and institutes is taking place in coordination with the scheduled time map for each of them during the current academic year 2021/2022.

The Cabinet also stressed adherence to implementing all precautionary measures to preserve the health and safety of students and members of the educational system.

In like manner, the Ministry of Higher Education revealed that vaccination rates in some universities have reached between 85% to 87%, with no student allowed to enter exams until they get the vaccine.

On the other hand, Egypt’s Health Ministry reported 949 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, bringing the country’s total up to 358,578.
