The Cabinet’s media center said circulating claims that Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stated Egypt’s tourism losses reached $600 million per day are incorrect.
In a statement, the center said the original remarks referred to losses across the wider region, not Egypt, and were misquoted on social media.
It clarified that the figure cited relates to estimated daily losses in the regional tourism sector due to flight cancellations and reduced travel to the Middle East, according to the World Travel and Tourism Council.
The center urged the public to rely on official sources and verify information before sharing it.
