BUE President Honors ‘Student Excellence Award’ Team

CAIRO, Nov. 12 (SEE)- Dr. Ahmed Hamad, the President of the British University in Egypt (BUE), applauded a team of  his students who were presented 'Student Excellence Award' by taking some pictures with them. He expressed his pride for these students who were able to maintain the university’s status.

Out of 337 international universities, an Egyptian team at the British University in Egypt was honored with the award for the fifth year in a row after receiving the Student Excellence Award at the annual conference of the International Association of Petroleum Engineers.

This contest is held amongst petroleum engineering students internationally. It is the highest honorary degree awarded to departments in industrialization, operations and planning, community participation, professional development and innovation.

Talking to ‘SEE’ Senior Student Ayman Mamdouh, Head of the Petroleum Engineering Association at BUE, said: “For the fifth time in a row, BUE’s team has won the award at the recent conference held in Dallas, USA. It is the sixth time in the university’s history.”

Professor Sami Naim, the President of the International Society for Petroleum Engineering, received the award on behalf of the team in the presence of a number of members, namely; Ibrahim Essam, deputy head of the Society of Petroleum Engineers at BUE, and student Mina Hanna, Secretary General of the Assembly at the University.

Mamdouh pointed out that over the course of 5 years team management updates were made as required by the competition annually, explaining that all the levels of the academic teams in the college can participate in the competition.

The Association of Petroleum Engineers is an international organization that gathers experts, professionals, researchers, engineers and students in the field of oil. These different groups cooperate through academic and social events. Out of the 143k participants at the contest, 50k students are members of the association.

The Society of Petroleum Engineers at BUE is one of the 337 students branch worldwide. This year 170 students of various majors in the university have joined the association.
