Bruno Fernandes has been named the Football Writers’ Association Men’s Footballer of the Year after an outstanding season with Manchester United.

The Portuguese midfielder finished comfortably ahead of his rivals in the voting, earning 120 votes to secure one of English football’s most prestigious individual awards.

Dominik Szoboszlai of Liverpool came second with 65 votes, while Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea finished close behind with 64 votes.

Declan Rice of Arsenal and Anton Stach of Leeds United both received 61 votes, while Florian Wirtz earned 60 votes after an impressive campaign with Liverpool.

Further down the standings, Arsenal star Bukayo Saka collected 57 votes, while Rayan Cherki of Manchester City finished with 56 votes.

The award marks a historic achievement for Fernandes, who becomes the first Manchester United player to win the honor since Wayne Rooney in 2010.

Fernandes enjoyed a remarkable 2025-2026 campaign, scoring eight goals and providing 20 assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.
