Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is not planning to leave the club during the current transfer window, despite recent speculation surrounding his future at Old Trafford.

Reports in recent days suggested the Portuguese midfielder was reassessing his position following the dismissal of head coach Ruben Amorim.

Those rumors intensified after Fernandes was seen meeting Carlos Fernandes, a member of Amorim’s coaching staff, shortly after the manager’s sacking, raising concerns among some fans that the 31-year-old could be considering an exit.

However, sources close to the situation have played down those fears, insisting that Fernandes remains committed to Manchester United, despite the recent upheaval at the club.

Following Amorim’s departure, Darren Fletcher took charge as interim manager for two matches, with Michael Carrick now appointed caretaker head coach for the remainder of the season.

It is understood that Fernandes always planned to reassess his future in the summer, when he will enter the final year of his contract.

The former Sporting CP star turned down a lucrative offer from Al-Hilal last summer and continues to attract interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Nevertheless, should he eventually leave United, Fernandes would prefer to remain in European football.

Fernandes recently admitted he was “hurt” by learning that the club had been open to selling him, adding that he felt senior figures lacked the courage to be direct with him, particularly as Amorim was keen for him to stay.

For now, however, United’s captain remains focused on the club, as questions continue to swirl around the team’s direction and leadership for the rest of the season.
