On Wednesday, UEFA confirmed that it received a request from Italy and Turkey to merge their EURO championship bids into one to host the 2032 edition.
So, Turkey's joint bid with Italy benefited the joint bid of the United Kingdom and Ireland as the only bidder for the 2028 tournament.
UEFA said in a statement: "The award of both tournaments still requires the approval of the Executive Committee at its meeting in Nyon on Oct 10."
England, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales presented a joint bid to host Euro 2028 was placed by England, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
The bid of Britain and Ireland will be confirmed as Turkey decided to focus on the following edition.
