President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia.
According to the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, the two presidents agreed on the importance of joint efforts to explore prospects for developing bilateral relations.
They also exchanged views on regional developments, with President El-Sisi emphasizing the need to defuse regional tensions and avoid unintended escalations that could lead to dangerous confrontations, negatively affecting regional security and stability.
The spokesperson added that President El-Sisi outlined Egypt's intensive efforts and communications aimed at pushing for de-escalation and achieving a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon.
He stressed the importance of rallying international efforts to encourage all parties to engage positively with initiatives to restore calm in the region, allowing for the resolution of the humanitarian crisis affecting civilians in Palestine and Lebanon.
