The Sudanese authorities in the Red Sea state issued a decision to impose a curfew in the cities of Port Sudan and Suakin, starting from today, Wednesday, according to local media report.
The step comes as a result of the security situation in the Red Sea State.
Protesters closed the northern port of Port Sudan in the Red Sea due to Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok's decision to dismiss the governor of Kassala state, Saleh Ammar.
Hamdok exempted Ammar from his post, on Tuesday, before assuming his duties two months after his appointment, and the exemption decision came for not accepting local components of Ammar and rejecting his ruling.
The imposition of the curfew in the two cities will start from 12:00 pm to 4:00 am.
Last week, a police officer was stabbed to death in the city of “Haya” in the Red Sea State, by demonstrators protesting against the peace agreement signed in Juba.
