United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson was moved to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Monday after his condition has "worsened,", according to his official spokesperson.

"Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the PM has worsened and based on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the ICU at the hospital," the spokesperson revealed.

The British PM was infected with coronavirus on March 27 and was admitted to hospital for tests yesterday as he continued to suffer symptoms of the virus.

Before he was moved to ICU,  Johnson asked the Foreign Secretary and First Secretary of State Dominic Raab to assume his role.

The British pound has dropped against the dollar following Johnson's health deterioration news, according to a number of reports.

The United Kingdom’s death toll from Coronavirus (COVID-19) has risen by 403 to 4,897, according to the National Health Service (NHS).

The NHS added that 15 of the 403 patients had never suffered from any disease before.

It is worth mentioning that, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared coronavirus a global pandemic as the new virus has rapidly spread to more than 121,000 people from Asia to the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.

People across the globe partake in self-isolation for 14 days as an effective precautionary measure to protect those around them and themselves from contracting COVID-19.

Several world countries have tightened restrictions on movement and travel, with the aim of curbing the spread of the Coronavirus, and some have pledged billions of dollars in economic stimulus programs to reduce the economic repercussions of the crisis.

Transmission of virus between humans happens when someone comes into contact with an infected person’s secretions, such as droplets in a cough.

It can also be transmitted by coming into contact with something an infected person has touched and then touching your mouth, nose or eyes.
