Brazilian footballer Dani Alves will be arrested on Friday due to charges of sexual assault that occurred on the 30th of December in a Barcelona club, according to Vozpópuli.
The right-back player strenuously denied the accusations and said: “Yes, I was in that place, with more people, enjoying myself. And people who know me know that I love to dance. I was dancing and enjoying myself without invading the space of others.”
Alves continued: “I don’t know who that lady is. You arrive at a bathroom and you don’t have to ask who’s there. I have never invaded anyone’s space. How am I going to do it with a woman or a girl? No, for God’s sake.”
Earlier, the Catalonia Higher Court of Justice issued a statement, indicating that the professional player is under investigation.
“Barcelona investigating magistrate’s court number 15 has opened proceedings for an alleged crime of sexual assault due to a complaint presented by a woman against a football player for events that allegedly occurred at a Barcelona nightclub this past month of December,” the statement read.
“The matter is in the investigative phase and at this time we do not have more information.”
The 40-year-old star quit playing for the Brazil national football team after becoming the oldest Brazilian player to appear in FIFA World Cup, which was held in Qatar last year.
