On Monday, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) officially announced appointing Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti to manage the first national team.

In a statement published on its official website, the CBF confirmed that Ancelotti, currently the head coach of Real Madrid, will take charge of the Brazilian national team for the World Cup qualifying campaign, beginning with next month’s matches against Ecuador and Paraguay.

The statement described Ancelotti as “the most decorated coach in football history,” and emphasized that he will now lead “the greatest national team in the world,” in a move aimed at restoring Brazil’s global prominence.

CBF President Ednaldo Rodrigues stated: “Appointing Ancelotti is not just a technical decision, but a clear message to the world that we are determined to reclaim our glory. He is one of the greatest managers in history, and his leadership marks the start of a new, ambitious era for our team.”

Ancelotti becomes the first foreign coach to lead Brazil in an official match in 100 years.

The last time a non-Brazilian managed the team was in 1925.
