"Boy from Heaven" Wins Best Screenplay Award at Cannes

The 75th Cannes Film Festival, after two weeks of standing ovations and walkouts, ended Saturday in the South of France.

The festival's jury, presided by French actor Vincent Lindon, revealed this year's award winners and a surprising Palme d'Or.

The jury comprised of Noomi Rapace, Rebecca Hall, Asghar Farhadi, Joachim Trier, and Lindon.

Here is the full list of 2022 Cannes awards winners:

Egyptian-Swedish filmmaker Tarek Saleh's "Boy from Heaven", a thriller set in Cairo’s Al-Azhar Mosque, scooped the best screenplay prize.

Swedish filmmaker Ruben Ostlund has been awarded the prestigious Palme D'or for "Triangle of Sadness" (Sweden-Germany-France-Britain).

The Grand Prix was shared by Lukas Dhont for "Close" (Belgium-Netherlands-France) and Claire Denis for "Stars at Noon" (France).

Park Chan-wook has been named best director for "Decision to Leave" while the Jury Prize was shared by Jerzy Skolimowski for "EO" (Poland) and Charlotte Vandermeersch and Felix van Groeningen for "The Eight Mountains" (Italy-Belgium-France-Britain).

Iranian actress Zar Amir Ebrahimi won the best actress award for his role in "Holy Spider" and South Korean actor Song Kang-ho earned the Best actor award for his role in "Broker".

The prize of Camera d'Or for the best first film went to Riley Keough and Gina Gammell for "War Pony" (United States) while the Best short film award went to Jianying Chen for "The Water Murmurs" (China).
