Newly crowned 2023/2024 Copa Libertadores champions Botafogo clinched their first Brazilian league title since 1995.

Botafogo captured the title after defeating Sao Paulo 2-1.

Botafogo finished the campaign with 79 points from over 38 matches, six points of their closest rivals, Palmeiras.

Last week, the final seat of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup was occupied after Botafogo clinched a historic 3-1 win over Atletico Mineiro in the final of Copa Libertadores.

With this victory, Botafogo captured the title for the first time in their career, in addition to qualifying for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup tournament.

In addition, Botafogo will face Mexico's Pachuca, the CONCACAF champions, for the Derby of the America's Cup at the FIFA Intercontinental Cup on December 11.

The winner of this match will face Al Ahly for the Challenger Cup on December 14.

Botafogo played with ten men for almost the entire game, after Gregore's red card in the opening minute.

Botafogo's Luis Henrique scored the first goal for the team in minute 38, before Alex Telles supported the takeover after scoring the second from a penalty kick in minute 44.

Eduardo Varges attempted to make a rebound for Atletico Mineiro by scoring the first goal for the team in minute 47.

However, the attempts of the veteran club turned to dust after Botafogo scored the third through Junior Santos before the end of the game with few seconds.

Botafogo's victory secures them the last of the 32 spots in next year's FIFA Club World Cup. The tournament will be hosted in the United States.
