Borussia Dortmund Sign Carney Chukwuemeka

Borussia Dortmund have officially announced the signing of young English midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea on a long-term contract running until June 30, 2030. The move strengthens Dortmund’s attacking midfield ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The 21-year-old had already featured for Dortmund during the second half of last season while on loan from Chelsea, making 17 appearances across all competitions, including the FIFA Club World Cup, and scoring once. His performances convinced the German club to make the deal permanent.

Dortmund CEO Lars Ricken expressed, “It was important for us to add more quality and creativity to our attacking midfield. We’re very happy to secure such a big talent like Carney on a long-term basis. We believe in his potential to grow with us and will work together to support his career.”

Sporting director Sebastian Kehl also praised the midfielder’s qualities, saying, “Chukwuemeka has exceptional attributes and showed glimpses of them during his loan spell. His ability to find solutions in tight spaces gives us more variety and creativity. We’re excited to see what he can deliver next season.”

Chukwuemeka, who will continue wearing the No. 17 shirt, shared his excitement after signing the deal, asserting, “I’m proud and happy to become a permanent part of Dortmund.
