Norwegian side FK Bodø/Glimt produced one of the biggest shocks of the 2025–26 UEFA Champions League season by eliminating Italian giants Inter Milan with a 2-1 victory at the San Siro.
The second-leg play-off clash at San Siro (Giuseppe Meazza Stadium) in Milan sealed a historic 5-2 aggregate triumph for the Norwegian champions, who had already secured a 3-1 advantage in the first leg.
According to statistics from Opta Sports, Bodø/Glimt have become the first club from outside Europe’s traditional top five leagues, England, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France, to record four consecutive wins against teams from those divisions in the Champions League since AFC Ajax during the 1971–72 European Cup-winning campaign.

The result also marked a landmark moment for Norwegian football, as Bodø/Glimt became the first club from Norway to score three goals in a Champions League knockout play-off match.
After a goalless first half in Milan, the visitors struck twice in the second period. Jens Petter Hauge opened the scoring in the 58th minute, before Håkon Evjen doubled the lead in the 72nd minute to silence the home crowd.
Inter responded through Alessandro Bastoni in the 76th minute, but the goal proved insufficient to spark a comeback as last season’s runners-up bowed out of the competition.
Far from being a routine upset, the victory cements Bodø/Glimt’s growing reputation on the European stage, underlining that clubs outside the continent’s financial elite are capable of rewriting the script on the biggest nights.
