Bloomberg, a US news agency, reported that President Joe Biden’s statement that the US military would intervene to defend Taiwan against any attack from China was a mistake.
Before the White House officials retracted those statements, Biden’s statements appeared to be a departure from Washington’s long-standing policy known as “strategic ambiguity.”
Biden was asked by a reporter today, Monday, while he was in the Japanese capital, Tokyo, if the United States (US) was ready to intervene militarily to defend Taiwan after it avoided doing so in Ukraine.
One China and all the accompanying agreements proceeded from this foundation, but the notion that it can be taken by force is not appropriate.
