Blinken Hands Shoukry Copies of Letters on US Recognition of Egypt's Independence, Sovereignty

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with the US Secretary of State Blinken, today, Wednesday , in Washington.

Out of the pride in the Egyptian-US relations, the US Secretary of State was keen to hand Shoukry a gift to Egypt in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of relations between Egypt and the United States of America.

The gift is a copy of two letters; One of them is a letter recognizing Egypt’s independence and sovereignty and the document establishing relations, sent from then US President “Warren Harding” to King Ahmed Fouad, and the other is a letter from the US Secretary of State at that time, “Charles Hughes” to Abd al-Khalek Tharwat Pasha, congratulating him on independence.
