This morning, UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed stressed that the Turkish military intervention in Libya has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis there.

During his speech at the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly, bin Zayed said: "We express our concern about the Turkish military intervention in Libya that has worsen the humanitarian crisis and undermined efforts to reach a peaceful solution and destabilize the region as a whole."

He added: "My country supports the repeated calls for an immediate ceasefire in Libya, and we call on all parties to adhere to the political process under the auspices of the United Nations and build on the outcomes of Berlin (conference)."

Bin Zayed noted: "My country will continue its call that it made since the outbreak of the conflict in Libya to reach a peaceful political solution to the crisis to achieve lasting security and stability."

Worth noting that on 27 November 2019, Ankara signed two memoranda of understanding with the Libyan Government of National Accord (Al-Wefaq) in Tripoli, one on military cooperation and the other on the maritime borders of the eastern Mediterranean countries.
