Joe Biden’s presidential inauguration ceremony will be extremely hard to prepare and organize especially with the recent increase in the COVID-19 cases.

The current official day for presidential inauguration set by the U.S Constitution’s 20th Amendment in 1933 is January 20th. However, it was March 4th before 1933 and the ceremony will take place in the west front of the U.S Capitol where Ronald Reagan was inaugurated in 1981.

Constructions already started in Washington, DC for the preparation of the ceremony and the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies announced on Friday that the reason for starting the constructions now is to make it easier to scale the event down for the COVID-19 pandemic.

The inaugural platform can hold more than 1000 people from the incoming and outgoing presidents and vice presidents, Congress members and Supreme Court of Justices members. While the bleachers can hold up to 1000 extra people. However, due to the COVID-19 health and precautionary measures, both the inaugural platform and bleacher may hold even less than half their capacity.

It is worth mentioning that the president and vice president are set to attend a luncheon in the National Statuary Hall after the inauguration ceremony before heading to the presidential Inaugural Parade. Not to mention, the 117th Congress are set to be sworn in before the ceremony on January 3rd with the electoral votes counted three days after that.
