US President Joe Biden's statements raised a lot of controversy and questions after he pledged that the United States of America (USA) would intervene militarily if China invaded Taiwan.

Biden's comments came as a deliberate departure from Washington's policy of strategic ambiguity toward China, and a strong warning to China if it tried to seize the self-ruled island by force.

This came during a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Tokyo, where Biden was asked if the USA  was willing to go beyond aiding Taiwan in the event of an invasion than it did with Ukraine.

Biden replied, "Yes, that is the commitment we made although we agree with the one-China policy."
