On Thursday, US President Joe Biden indicated that the 2020s will be a decisive decade for the world to avert the worst consequences of the climate change dilemma, according to Biden's remark during a major summit.

Biden's new scheme, which was unveiled at a virtual summit of 40 global leaders, essentially doubles their previous promise, according to international reports.

During the virtual speech, Biden said: "All of us, and particularly those of us who represent the world's largest economies, we have to step up"

"Those that do take action and make bold investments in their people, and the clean energy future, will win the good jobs of tomorrow, and make their economies more resilient, more competitive," The US President added.

On the other hand, Vice-President Kamala Harris affirmed: "As a global community, we must act quickly and together to confront this crisis."

The President also pledged that the United States would cut its emissions at least in half from 2005 levels by 2030.

In this regard, the US has pledged to cut carbon emissions by 50-52% below 2005 levels by the end of this decade.

On this basis, the American administration hopes that their ambitious new plan will encourage China, India, and others to go further before the crucial COP26 meeting, in Glasgow in November.
