US President Joe Biden said that Europe's dispensation of Russian energy sources will enhance its national security as well as its energy security, adding, "We will work with the European Union (EU) to accelerate its dispensation of oil and gas from Russia."
Biden said, in a speech, according to Sky News, "Working on liquidated Natural Gas (LNG) shipments to Europe will not conflict with climate goals, and we are in the process of reducing Europe's dependence on oil and gas from Russia."
Romania's president said European energy sanctions against Russia were impossible.
Russia announced restrictions on the movement of funds to "unfriendly" countries in response to the freezing of part of the reserves.
On Friday, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that Western attempts to influence the Russian authorities by imposing economic sanctions are "stupid and meaningless."
