Belgium stormed to the top of Group G with a commanding 5-1 victory over New Zealand in their final group-stage match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, edging Egypt on goal difference to finish as group winners.
After leading 1-0 at halftime through Leandro Trossard's 28th-minute strike, the Red Devils produced a dominant second-half display, with Trossard adding his second before Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, and Alexis Saelemaekers all found the net to complete the rout.
The emphatic victory lifted Belgium to five points, level with Egypt but ahead on goal difference following the Pharaohs' 1-1 draw with Iran.
Iran finished third in the group, while New Zealand ended its campaign at the bottom of the standings.
After opening the tournament with back-to-back draws against Egypt and Iran, Belgium responded when it mattered most, securing first place and favorable seeding for the Round of 32 with their biggest win of the competition.
