Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said today, Wednesday, that his country has begun receiving Russian tactical nuclear weapons.

He emphasized that some of these weapons are three times more powerful than the two atomic bombs dropped by the United States on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, in 1945.

Lukashenko added, in an interview with the Russian state channel Russia-1, broadcast by the Telegram channel of the official Belta news agency in Belarus: “We have missiles and bombs that we received from Russia … the bombs are three times more powerful than those dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki".

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that Russia, which will retain control of tactical nuclear weapons, will start deploying these weapons on the territory of its close ally, Belarus, after the facilities in which they will be placed are completed on July 7 and 8.
