Explosives expert claimed that the explosion in the Beirut port was caused by the combustion of military missiles and not ammonium nitrate, as was published.

According to what was reported by the British newspaper "Daily Mail", the opinion was put forward by the Italian Danilo Kobe, aged 56, who is considered one of the leading explosives experts in the country.

Kobe believes that the explosion on August 4 was not caused by ammonium nitrate, "because the color of the cloud was orange," as it showed in photos and videos.

The expert explained that the explosion of ammonium nitrate leaves a clear yellow cloud.

"You can clearly see the orange cloud, which tends to be a bright red color which indicates the presence of the element of lithium," Kobe said.

"The lithium element can be found in the propellant fuel of the military missiles ... I think there were weapons," he said.

Last Tuesday, Beirut's port witnessed a powerful explosion, leaving 154 dead and thousands injured behind, along with dozens missing.

Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab stated that 2750 tons of ammonium nitrate had been stored for six years in the warehouse, which is believed to be the cause of the Beirut port explosion, while a special committee continues to investigate the incident.
