The Embassy of the Republic of Korea hosted an event at the Embassy on June 28 inviting special guests from the education sector.

This public diplomacy program aims to reach out to the Egyptian people and listen to their creative and insightful thoughts and ideas on developing the two countries' relations in various fields such as education, people-to-people exchanges, economy, cultural exchanges, environment, climate change, women’s empowerment, etc.

Ms. Zeinab Kamal, not only a science teacher with a huge commitment and dedication to her students but also an enthusiastic fan of Korean culture, was selected as the first “Korean Ambassador for a day” among around 170 candidates.

The appointee, invited to the Embassy along with three of her students who were also interested in Korean culture, delivered a presentation to the Embassy members including Ambassador Hong Jin-wook on the impact of education on a society where she explored ways to enhance the two countries' cooperation in the education field.

Ambassador Hong congratulated Ms. Zeinab on her appointment and mentioned that education was a very timely topic to discuss today with the first Korean Ambassador for a day considering its important role of building inpidual capabilities and fostering globalized human resources.

He touched upon the experience of Korea where its socio-economic and political development was by virtue of the developed Korean education itself and the fact that Korean teachers, parents, and students put a very high value on education.

Ambassador Hong added that considering the importance of education in Egypt where its 65 percent of the population are under the age of 30, the educational and cultural cooperation between the two countries would be beneficial not only for the development of the Egyptian education system but also for the mutual understanding of both countries’ people.

He also mentioned the Embassy would host this event in the near future again with the participation of many other Egyptian people in different fields.

The event was followed by a friendly lunch where they had an opportunity to try various Korean dishes to better understand Korean culture.
