Bayern Munich have opened talks with veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to extend his contract for an additional year, in a move aimed at retaining one of the team’s key pillars for the coming seasons.
According to the German outlet Sport1, final agreement is expected to be reached during the winter break, provided that Neuer gives the green light to proceed with the renewal.
The 39-year-old’s current contract runs until the summer of 2026, and Bayern plan to renew it for a third consecutive time with a short-term one-year deal, a gesture of appreciation for his leadership and vast experience with the club.
Neuer continues to deliver outstanding performances this season, having already featured in 10 matches, as he looks to guide Vincent Kompany’s side toward more domestic and European titles.
Recently, Neuer became the player with the most victories in Bundesliga history, surpassing teammate Thomas Müller.
The goalkeeper has led Bayern to 363 wins in 529 league appearances, edging out Müller’s record of 362 wins from 503 matches.
