The squads announced for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have reflected the performances of clubs and players throughout the season, with several European giants dominating national team selections, while the absence of many Real Madrid CF stars from Spain’s squad has attracted attention.

FC Bayern Munich lead all clubs with 18 players selected for the World Cup following their domestic double-winning campaign in Germany. Seven Bayern players were included in the Germany national football team squad, including Manuel Neuer, Leon Goretzka, Jamal Musiala, Lennart Karl, Aleksandar Pavlović, Jonathan Tah and Joshua Kimmich.

Manchester City F.C., winners of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, will have 16 players represented at the tournament.

Paris Saint-Germain F.C. rank third with 15 players, largely driven by strong representation in the France and Portugal national teams.

FC Barcelona also have 15 players at the World Cup, including Egyptian youngster Hamza Abdelkarim, whose surprise inclusion in the Egypt national football team squad came after scoring six goals for Barcelona’s youth side.

Arsenal F.C., the Premier League champions, are represented by 14 players, followed by Liverpool F.C. with 13.

Manchester United and Real Madrid each have 11 players participating in the tournament, placing them jointly in seventh place among the most represented clubs. Atlético Madrid follow with nine players, while Chelsea F.C. complete the top 10 with six representatives.
