Bayern Munich produced a dominant performance to defeat Atalanta BC 6–1 in the first leg of the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League, putting the German giants in a commanding position ahead of the return match.

Playing at the New Balance Arena, Bayern imposed complete control from the opening minutes, racing to a three-goal lead in the first half and continuing their attacking display after the break.

Josip Stanišić opened the scoring in the 12th minute before Michael Olise doubled the advantage in the 22nd minute.

Just three minutes later, Serge Gnabry added Bayern’s third to cap a devastating opening spell.

The visitors continued their dominance in the second half. Nicolas Jackson scored in the 52nd minute, while Olise grabbed his second of the night in the 64th minute.

Jamal Musiala then made it 6–0 in the 67th minute, effectively sealing the tie.

Atalanta managed only a late consolation when Mario Pašalić scored in stoppage time.

The emphatic victory gives Bayern a comfortable advantage ahead of the second leg at the Allianz Arena on March 18, leaving the Bavarian side on the brink of reaching the Champions League quarter-finals.

The result also extends Bayern’s strong run of form, with the German club now winning six consecutive matches, underlining their attacking strength and momentum heading into the decisive leg.
