The international friendly match between Palestine and the Basque Country at San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao, Spain, turned into a powerful global message of solidarity with Gaza, as thousands of fans filled the stands with Palestinian flags and chants supporting Palestinian civilians amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

From the moment the match kicked off, supporters lifted Palestinian flags across the stadium, transforming the friendly into an emotional scene of unity and international support.

Before the match, a massive march took place in the streets of Bilbao, where thousands of demonstrators rallied under the slogan “Stop the genocide in Gaza.”

Inside the stadium, Basque players also held a banner reading “Stop the genocide” during the pre-match team photo, further amplifying the message of solidarity.

The match carried significant symbolic weight, with the stands of San Mamés becoming a platform for global expressions of empathy toward Palestinian civilians.

Fans chanted in support of human rights, safety, and dignity for Palestinians, making the friendly fixture much more than a sporting event.

On the pitch, Palestine suffered a 3–0 defeat to the Basque national team in Saturday’s game.

But despite the result, the overwhelming atmosphere surrounding the match ensured it would be remembered for its humanitarian message rather than the final score.

The scenes in Bilbao highlighted a growing wave of international demonstrations calling attention to the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

With flags, banners, and vocal support throughout the evening, the match became a vivid reminder of how sport can serve as a global stage for social messages and collective solidarity.
