On Tuesday, Barcelona confirmed that Gavi will undergo surgery for his ACL tear in the upcoming few days.
The midfielder sustained an ACL injury during Spain's game against Georgia last week.
Barcelona said in an official statement: “Tests carried out on Monday morning on the first team player Gavi have shown that he has a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and an associated injury to the lateral meniscus. The player will have surgery in the coming days after which a new medical update will be released.”
The injury was considered a shocking one for Spain and Barcelona as Gavi was a key part of Xavi’s team.
Gavi is expected to be out of action for 7-9 months.
