FC Barcelona secured a place in the UEFA Champions League quarter finals after a dominant 7-2 victory over Newcastle United in the second leg of their Round of 16 clash at Camp Nou on Wednesday night.
The match began at a high tempo, with Raphinha opening the scoring for Barcelona in the sixth minute. Newcastle responded quickly through Anthony Elanga, who equalized in the 15th minute.
Barcelona regained the lead just three minutes later via Marc Bernal, but Elanga struck again in the 28th minute after a low cross from Harvey Barnes, leveling the score once more.
In first half stoppage time, Barcelona were awarded a penalty after a foul on Raphinha, which Lamine Yamal converted to give the hosts a 3-2 lead heading into the break.
The second half saw complete dominance from the Catalan side, as Barcelona added four more goals against a struggling Newcastle defense that failed to contain the relentless attacking pressure.
With this emphatic result, Barcelona advance to the quarter finals, where they will face the winner of the tie between Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur.
