FC Barcelona secured a dominant 4-1 victory over city rivals RCD Espanyol on Saturday at Camp Nou in the Catalan derby, as part of matchday 31 of the La Liga season.
Ferran Torres gave Barcelona an early advantage with two goals in the 9th and 25th minutes, both assisted by rising star Lamine Yamal.
Espanyol responded through Pol Lozano in the 56th minute, but Barcelona regained full control late in the match. Yamal added a third goal in the 87th minute before Marcus Rashford sealed the win with a fourth just two minutes later.
The result sees Barcelona extend their lead at the top of the table to 79 points, maintaining a clear advantage over Real Madrid CF and continuing their strong run of form.
Espanyol remain 10th with 38 points after another inconsistent performance.
Yamal delivered a standout display, scoring once and providing two assists in his 100th La Liga appearance, becoming the youngest player in the competition’s history to reach that milestone.
