Spanish newspapers reported Monday that Barcelona has settled on sacking the current head coach Ernesto Valverde, due to the recent bad results of the Blaugrana.

The Spanish League holders lost the lead in their last two games against La Liga last-placed Espanyol as they were held to a 2-2 draw.

Barca also went down to a 3-2 defeat against Athletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup after they went ahead with two goals.

According to "Catalunya Ràdio," Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu told Valverde during a meeting that he would communicate with the agents of the Spanish coach to begin the procedures for terminating his contract with the Balugrana.

The Spanish coach led the training earlier today before holding a meeting with Barca's president.

"Ernesto Valverde is currently at Barcelona's training ground. The coach arrived around 8.20am on Monday to take charge of the training session," Spanish newspaper "Sport" reported.

According to the "Sport", Barcelona's board of directors is now holding a meeting to discuss Valverde's future.

"Josep Maria Bartomeu, Barcelona president, has not yet taken a decision on Ernesto Valverde and is now meeting with the board to decide what to do," the Spanish newspaper said.
